Thursday marked a busy night in the Ontario Hockey League with six games on the schedule.
In St. Catharines, Carter Verhaeghe scored twice and set up two more goals as the Niagara IceDogs beat the Ottawa 67’s 7-4. Anthony DiFruscia scored three times in the win for the IceDogs. Jesse Graham added a goal and two assists while Eric Ming also scored. Brendan Perlini set up three goals for the IceDogs. Nevin Guy had two goals and an assist for Ottawa while Brett Gustavsen had a goal and two assists in the loss. Ryan Van Stralen had the other goal for Ottawa.
In North Bay, Carter Sandlak scored at 2:19 of overtime to give the Plymouth Whalers a 3-2 win over the North Bay Battalion. Danny Vanderwiel and Ryan Hartman also scored for the Whalers while Mathieu Henderson set up two goals. Goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 33 shots. Dylan Blujus and Vincent Praplan scored for North Bay.
In Peterborough, Andrew D’Agostini stopped 34 shots as the Peterborough Petes beat the Mississauga Steelheads 4-3. Steven Lorentz, Nick Ritchie, Stephen Pierog and Connor Boland scored for the Petes in the win. Sean Day, Austin Gerhart and Trevor Carrick scored for Mississauga in the loss. Spencer Martin stopped 30 shots for the Steelheads.
In Sarnia, Anthony DeAngelo had a goal and three assists as the Sarnia Sting beat the Saginaw Spirit 6-3. Nikolay Goldobin had two goals and an assist while Nikita Korostelev also had a pair of goals. Patrick White had the other Sarnia goal. Kristoff Kontos, Zach Bratina and Mitchell Stephens scored for Saginaw in the loss.
In Windsor, Scott Kosmachuk’s goal at 13:51 of the third period to give the Guelph Storm a 3-2 win over the Windsor Spitfires. Brock McGinn and Pius Suter also scored for Guelph in the win. Justin Nichols stopped 32 shots for the Storm. Kerby Rychel and Josh Ho-Sang scored for Windsor. Jordan DeKort stopped 32 shots in the loss.
In Barrie, Matt Murray stopped 38 shots as the Soo Greyhounds blanked the Barrie Colts 1-0. Blake Speers had the lone goal for the Greyhounds. Barrie goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood stopped 28 shots in the loss.
