Monday may have been a holiday but eight teams found themselves in action around the Ontario Hockey League.
In Kitchener, Evan McEneny scored on the power play 15 seconds into overtime to give the Kitchener Rangers a 3-2 win over the London Knights. McEneny and Radek Faksa had a goal and an assist each for the Rangers in the win. Darby Llewellyn also scored. London goaltender Anthony Stolarz made 36 saves in the loss while Chris Tierney had a goal and an assist. Josh Anderson had the other London goal.
In Mississauga, Oscar Dansk stopped 19 shots as the Erie Otters shut out the Mississauga Steelheads 7-0. Joel Wigle had a goal and two assists for the Otters in the win. Dane Fox added a pair of goals. Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist while Jake Evans, Stephen Harper and Nick Betz also scored. Spencer Abraham, Adam Pelech and Connor Brown chipped in with two assists each. Spencer Martin got the start for Mississauga and stopped six of ten shots before making way for Dawson Carty who stopped 24 of 27 shots the rest of the way.
In North Bay, Barclay Goodrow had the shootout winner as the North Bay Battalion beat the Niagara IceDogs 5-4. Sault native Mike Amadio had a goal and an assist for the Battalion while Goodrow, Brett McKenzie and Steven Duda also scored. Jake Smith stopped 33 shots for North Bay. Brendan Perlini scored a pair of goals for Niagara while Carter Verhaeghe chipped in with a goal and an assist in the loss. Aleksander Mikulovich also scored. Luke Mercer set up two goals for Niagara. Christopher Festarini stopped 34 shots for the IceDogs.
In Oshawa, Kristoff Kontos scored the shootout winner as the Saginaw Spirit beat the Oshawa Generals 2-1. Jake Paterson stopped 32 shots for Saginaw while Dylan Sadowy had the lone goal in regulation time for the Spirit. Generals goaltender Daniel Altshuller stopped 34 shots in the loss. Michael Dal Colle had the Generals goal.
