After a heavy night of action on Friday night in the Ontario Hockey League, Saturday marked a lighter night as the Thanksgiving weekend continues.
In Erie, Dylan Srome had the shootout winner as the Erie Otters beat the Saginaw Spirit 6-5. Connor McDavid and Connor Brown also had shootout goals for Erie. Andrey Alexeev and Cody Payne scored for Saginaw in the shootout. Brown had a pair of goals for Erie while Dane Fox and Jake Evans had a goal and an assist for Erie in the win. McDavid set up two goals. Nick Betz had the other Erie goal in the win. Eric Locke scored a pair of goals for Saginaw while Alexeev and Kristoff Kontos set up two goals each. Justin Kea had a goal and an assist wile Justin Sefton and Sean Callaghan had the other goals for the Spirit.
In Belleville, Charlie Graham stopped 67 shots as the Belleville Bulls beat the Guelph Storm 6-5. Remi Elie had a goal and two assists while Brendan Gaunce and David Tomasek added a goal and an assist each. Andrew Ming and Luke Cairns had the other goals for the Bulls. Michael Cramarossa set up two goals for the Bulls. Jason Dickinson had two goals and an assist for the Storm while Tyler Bertuzzi chipped in with three assists. Zac Leslie added two assists for Guelph. Hunter Garlent and Ryan Horvat also scored for the Storm in the loss.
In Plymouth, Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 37 shots as the Plymouth Whalers beat the Kitchener Rangers 4-2. Gianluca Curcuruto scored a goal and set up another while Ryan Hartman set up two goals. Single goals went to Zach Lorentz, Victor Crus Rydberg and Carter Sandlak also scored in the win. Ryan MacInnis and Matia Marcantuoni scored for the Rangers in the loss.
In Sault Ste. Marie, Matt Murray stopped all 24 shots that he faced as the Soo Greyhounds blanked the Windsor Spitfires by a 5-0 score. Blake Speers scored his first two OHL goals while Kyle Jenkins also had his first OHL goal in the win Sergey Tolchinsky and Tyler Gaudet also scored while Darnell Nurse and Michael Bunting had two assists each. Dale Kuchmey started for Windsor, stopping 11 of 15 shots before being pulled in favour of Jordan DeKort. DeKort stopped 16 of 17 shots.
In Barrie, Sean Day’s first OHL goal 3:53 into the third period was the game winner as the Mississauga Steelheads beat the Barrie Colts 2-1. Bobby MacIntyre also scored for the Steelheads. Goaltender Spencer Martin stopped 36 shots. Andrew Mangiapane had the lone goal for Barrie in the loss.
In Owen Sound, Cameron Brace’s goal 58 seconds into the third period held up as the winner in a 1-0 win by the Owen Sound Attack over the North Bay Battalion. Attack goaltender Brandon Hope stopped 36 shots while North Bay goaltender Brendan O’Neill stopped 23 shots.
