As 18 teams see action, a typical weekend opens up around the Ontario Hockey League with nearly every team in action.
In Kingston, 16 different players ad at least a point as the Kingston Frontenacs beat the Sudbury Wolves 10-1. Slater Doggett had two goals and an assist while Loren Ulett added a goal and two assists in the win. Michael Moffat also had a three-point night with three assists. Sam Bennett scored twice while Ryan Kujawinski, Sam Povorozniuk ad Dylan DiPerna added a goal and an assist each. Henri Ikonen and Matthew Watson set up two goals each for the Frontenacs. Roland McKeown and Corey Pawley also scored in the win. Jacob Harris scored for Sudbury.
In North Bay, Michael Clarke scored on the power play at 7:45 of the third period to lift the Peterborough Petes to a 2-1 win over the North Bay Battalion in their home opener. Chase Hatcher had the other Petes goal while Nelson Armstrong set up both goals. Nick Paul scored for the lone goal for North Bay.
In Sarnia, Anthony DeAngelo’s goal at 19:32 of the third period gave the Sarnia Sting a 3-2 win over the Windsor Spitfires. Brodie Barrick made 42 saves in the win. Bryan Moore added a goal and an assist while Nikoaly Goldobin also scored. Slater Koekkoek and Josh Ho-Sang scored for Windsor.
In Sault Ste. Marie, Tyler Gaudet had a goal and an assist while Jorgen Karterud and Jean Dupuy also scored as the Soo Greyhounds beat the Plymouth Whalers 3-2. Alex Peters and Zach Lorentz scored for the Whalers.
In Kitchener, Oscar Dansk stopped 35 shots as the Erie Otters blanked the Kitchener Rangers 4-0. Connor McDavid had a goal and two assists while Andre Burakovsky scored twice while Dane Fox chipped in with a goal and an assists. Tyson Teichmann stopped 24 shots in the loss.
In London, Jake Patterson stopped 43 shots as the London Knights beat the Saginaw Spirit 6-1. Ryan Rupert had a goal three assists while Bo Hovat and Matt Rupert chipped in with two goals and an assist. Mitchell Marner and Alex Basso also scored.
In Mississauga, Andrey Alexeev scored three times as the Saginaw Spirit beat the Mississauga Steelheads 5-3. Dylan Sadowy scored a pair of goals for the Spirit. Justin Kea and Eric Locke set up two goals each while goaltender Jake Paterson stopped 37 shots. Dylan Smoskowitz scored twice while Brett Foy also scored in the loss. Sam Babintsev set up two goals in the loss while goaltender Dawson Carty stopped 39 shots.
In Ottawa, Scott Kosmachuk scored a pair of goals as the Guelph Storm beat the Ottawa 67’s 5-1. Robby Fabbri had a goal and an assist while Brock McGinn had two assists. Matt Finn and Pius Suter also scored for Guelph. Brendan Bell scored the lone goal for Ottawa. Goaltender Philippe Trudeau stopped 41 shots in the loss.
In Oshawa, Cole Cassels and Scott Laughton had a goal and an assist each as the Oshawa Generals beat the Barrie Colts 2-1. Erik Bradford had the lone goal for Barrie.
