Greyhounds complete deal with Frontenacs (Updated)Tuesday, October 08, 2013 by: Brad Coccimiglio
The Soo Greyhounds have traded for 19-year-old forward Jean Dupuy in a trade with the Kingston Frontenacs on Tuesday.
The Greyhounds moved a fifth round pick (2014) and a conditional 15th round pick (2016) to Kingston in the deal.
“Jean is a late birth 1994 who we feel adds an element to our team very similar to what Tyler Gaudet brought to us last year in an area we set out to address right from day one,” Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Dubas said in a release. “Jean is tenacious in pursuit of the puck, and maintains solid possession numbers when he has the puck. This season, though a small sample size, Jean has shown an ability to being a positive shot attempt player while playing a lot of minutes versus tough quality of competition and starting a majority of his shifts in the defensive zone. Jean plays the game in a way that fits the way our coaching staff wants to play it. He is physical but has a purpose to his physicality and is relentless in his effort.”
The right winger has a goal in three games with the Frontenacs this season. The goal came in Sunday afternoon’s Frontenacs 3-2 win in Kingston over the Greyhounds. In 95 career games, Dupuy had eight goals and eight assists.
Dupuy is expected to be in the Greyhounds lineup on Friday night when they host the Plymouth Whalers.
