Saturday night marked another busy night in the Ontario Hockey League and a number of players had notable performances for their respective teams.
In Erie, Andre Burakovsky had a goal and four assists as the Erie Otters doubled up the North Bay Battalion 8-2. Dane Fox and Connor Brown chipped in with two goals and two assists each in the win. Connor McDavid added a goal and an assist for the Otters. Jake Evans and Michael Curtis also scored. Nick Paul and Matt MacLeod had a goal and an assist each while Mark Raycroft and Brandon Robinson also scored for the Battalion. Vincent Praplan set up three goals for North Bay.
In London, Bo Horvat had two goals and an assist as the London Knights beat the Guelph Storm 7-2. Josh Anderson added a goal and two assists while Christian Dvorak, Matt Rupert, Remi Elie and Mitchell Marner had a goal and an assist each for London. Michael McCarron set up two goals in the win. Brock McGinn and Jason Dickinson scored for Guelph.
In Belleville, Brandon Halverson stopped all 32 shots he faced in his first OHL game as the Soo Greyhounds blanked the Belleville Bulls 4-0. Andrew Fritsch and Jared McCann had a goal and an assist each in the win. Rookie Brandon Hughes set up a pair of goals for the Greyhounds. David Miller and Sergey Tolchinsky also scored. Belleville goaltender Jason DaSilva stopped 24 shots in the loss.
In Plymouth, Zach Lorentz scored on the power play at 1:20 of overtime to give the Plymouth Whalers a 4-3 win over the Saginaw Spirit. Ryan Hartman had two goals and an assist for the Whalers while Francesco Vilardi added a goal and an assist in the win. Whalers goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 38 shots. Nick Moutry, Eric Locke and Sean Callaghan scored for the Spirit, who erased a 3-0 Plymouth lead in the game before losing in overtime.
In Sarnia, Carter Verhaeghe had the lone shootout goals as the Niagara IceDogs beat the Sarnia Sting 4-3. Verhaeghe, Alexander Protapovich and Jesse Graham scored for Niagara in regulation time. Nickolas Latta had a pair of goals for Sarnia while Davis Brown also scored.
In Barrie, Franky Palazzese stopped 42 shots as the Sudbury Wolves beat the Barrie Colts 6-3. Nathan Pancel had three goals and an assist while Stefan LeBlanc added two goals and an assist for the Wolves. Nicholas Baptiste added a goal and three assists in the win while Mathew Campagna also set up three goals for the Wolves. Aaron Ekblad had a goal and an assist for Barrie. Andreas Athanasiou and Michael Webster also scored for the Colts in the loss.
In Owen Sound, Brandon Hope stopped 30 shots as the Owen Sound Attack beat the Kitchener Rangers 4-2. Holden Cook had three goals for Owen Sound while Thomas Schemitsch scored his first OHL goal in the win. Daniel Milne, Gemel Smith and Kyle Hope chipped in with two assists each. Radek Faksa had both goals for the Rangers while Tyson Teichmann stopped 32 shots.
