Gameday Preview: Greyhounds make lone appearance in BellevilleSaturday, October 05, 2013 by: Brad Coccimiglio
A three-game road trip for the Soo Greyhounds continues on Saturday night as they make their lone appearance at the Yardmen Arena to take on the Belleville Bulls.
The game marks one of two meetings between the two clubs with the Bulls making the trip north for an Oct. 25 meeting at the Essar Centre.
The Bulls will be playing their third game in four nights after playing host to Kingston on Wednesday night and playing in Oshawa on Friday. The Bulls dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to Kingston in a game that saw goaltender Charlie Graham make 43 saves before falling 3-2 to the Generals in Oshawa on Friday night. Graham had another big performance, stopping 46 shots against the Generals.
The Greyhounds enter the game on the heels of a 4-1 win in Ottawa on Thursday night. Goaltender Matt Murray made 31 saves in the win. The game saw Murray lower his goals against average to 1.96, which leaves him second in the OHL behind Brendan O’Neill of the North Bay Battalion. O’Neill currently holds the league lead with a 1.67 GAA. Full details from the win in Ottawa can be found here.
A pair of Greyhounds enter the game among the top 10 scorers in the league as well. With nine points each, Jared McCann and Sergey Tolchinsky are currently tied for fifth in league scoring. McCann’s six goals in four games are third while Tolchinsky sits fourth with five goals.
Bulls forwards Scott Simmonds ad Garrett Hooey currently are tied for second in the OHL in power play goals with three each. Tolchinsky also has three goals on the man advantage. After staring both games already this week for the Bulls, Graham currently sits fourth in minutes played with 309. Graham is also third in saves with 186 in five games.
