Saturday night was a relatively high-scoring night in the Ontario Hockey League despite just five games being on the schedule.
In Belleville, Garrett Hooey scored a power play goal with 13 seconds left in regulation time to give the Belleville Bulls a 4-3 win over the Niagara IceDogs. Hooey finished the night with three goals, all on the power play. Luke Cairns added a goal and two assists in the win. Goaltender Jason DaSilva made 28 saves. Brendan Perlini scored a pair of goals and an assist for Niagara in the loss. Carter Verhaeghe added a goal and an assist while goaltender Chris Festarini stopped 37 shots.
In Windsor, Kerby Rychel had three goals and two assists as the Windsor Spitfires beat the Erie Otters 8-4. Brady Vail had two goals and two assists while Josh Ho-Sang added a goal and three assists for Windsor. Nikita Yazkov had a goal and two assists in the win. Ben Johnson had the other goal for Windsor. Goaltender Dalen Kuchmey stopped 32 shots. Andre Burakovsky and Stephen Harper had a goal and an assist each for Erie. Michael Curtis and Connor Brown had a goal each in the loss. Dylan Strome set up a pair of goals for Erie.
In Sault Ste. Marie, Mitchell Theoret had the shootout winner as the Barrie Colts beat the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 4-3. Zach Hall had a goal and an assist for the Colts while Tyson Fawcett set up two goals in the win. Erik Bradford and Aaron Ekblad also scored. Sergey Tolchinsky had all three goals for the Greyhounds.
In Saginaw, Brenden Miller’s power play goal at 19:20 of the third period was the game-winner as the North Bay Battalion beat the Saginaw Spirit 3-2. Matt MacLeod and Brett McKenzie also scored for North Bay. Nikita Serebryakov made 30 saves for Saginaw in the loss. Zach Bratina and Nick Moutry scored for the Spirit in the loss.
In Owen Sound, Gemel Smith scored a power play goal at 2:24 of overtime to give the Owen Sound Attack a 7-6 win over the Sudbury Wolves. Smith had four goals in the win while Kurtis Gabriel added three assists. Zach Nastasiuk added two goals and an assist for Owen Sound while Ethan Szypula had the other Attack goal. Daniel Milne chipped in with two assists. Nathan Pancel had two goals and an assist for the Wolves in the loss. Nicholas Baptiste also scored a pair of goals. Mathew Campagna set up four goals in the loss. Jacob Harris chipped in with a goal and an assists while Jeff Corbett also had a two-point night with two assists. Ray Huether had the other Sudbury goal.
