Soo Greyhounds goaltender Matt Murray is attending the Pittsburgh Penguins rookie camp with a little more job security.
The Penguins announced on Wednesday that they have signed Murray to a three-year entry level contract.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In three seasons with the Greyhounds, the Thunder Bay, Ont. native has posted a record of 47-49-8 in 117 career games. In 2012-13, Murray set career highs in wins (26), saves (1504) goals against average (3.67) in 53 games. Murray also had a strong opening round playoff series against the Owen Sound Attack.
Murray was one of two goaltender prospects signed by the Penguins on Wednesday. Pittsburgh also signed Tristan Jarry of the Edmonton Oil Kings to a three-year entry level deal. Jarry was a second round pick of the Penguins in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
