OHL Roundup: Final Western Conference playoff spot clinched

With three games on the Ontario Hockey League schedule on Saturday night, the final Western Conference playoff spot has been clinched. In Guelph, Eric Locke scored a pair of goals to pace the Saginaw Spirit to a 5-3 win over the Guelph Storm.

In Guelph, Eric Locke scored a pair of goals to pace the Saginaw Spirit to a 5-3 win over the Guelph Storm. The win clinched the final playoff spot in the Western Conference for the Spirit. Jake Paterson stopped 34 shots for the Spirit. Garret Ross, Terry Trafford and Jacob Ringuette also scored in the win for Saginaw. Ryan Horvat had a goal and two assists for the Storm. Patrick Watling and Tanner Richard also scored in the loss for Guelph.

In Barrie, Andreas Athanasiou scored the overtime winner as the Barrie Colts beat the Belleville Bulls 3-2. Mark Scheifele and Anthony Camara also scored for the Colts. Brady Austin and Daniil Zharkov scored for Belleville in the loss.

In Owen Sound, Cameron Brace had two goals and two assists as the Owen Sound Attack beat the Erie Otters 6-4. Daniel Catenacci and Gemel Smith added a goal and an assist each in the win. Kyle Hope and Zach Nastasiuk also scored for Owen Sound. Dane Fox scored a pair of goals for Erie in the loss. Connor McDavid chipped in with a pair of assists for the Otters. Kyle Pettit and J.P. Labardo also scored in the loss.

On Sunday, eight games are scheduled in the OHL, including:

  • Brampton vs. Oshawa (2 p.m.)
  • Kingston vs. Mississauga (2 p.m.)
  • Kitchener vs. Sault Ste. Marie (2 p.m.)
  • Niagara vs. Barrie (2 p.m.)
  • Plymouth vs. Saginaw (2 p.m.)
  • Peterborough vs. Ottawa (2:05 p.m.)
  • Sarnia vs. Guelph (2:05 p.m.)
  • Windsor vs. London (2:05 p.m.)
