Thursday, March 07, 2013   by: Brad Coccimiglio

For the second time in three months, Soo Greyhounds defenceman Ryan Sproul has been honoured by the Ontario Hockey League.

On Thursday morning, the OHL announced its performers of the month and Sproul was named the top defenceman for the month of February. Sproul also earned the honour in December.

Sproul led all defencemen with 21 points in 11 games in February. Sproul had points in nine of 11 games in the month and had multi-point games six times. Sproul opened the month with a five-point performance in Saginaw.

Sproul is leading OHL defencemen in scoring with 19 goals and 64 points in 45 games.

February marks the third-straight month a Greyhounds player has been honoured as forward Nick Cousins was named OHL player of the month for January.

Also honoured by the league on Thursday were Eric Locke of Saginaw (Player of the Month) and Alex Nedeljkovic of the Plymouth Whalers (Goaltender of the Month and Rookie of the Month).
