Thunderbirds blank Sudbury on road

The Soo Thunderbirds opened a busy week of action on Wednesday night when they traveled to Sudbury to face the Nickel Barons.

Derek Battagin and Joey Miller had a goal and an assist each for the Thunderbirds as they beat the Nickel Barons 4-0. Goaltender Steven Dombrowski stopped all 25 shots he faced to pick up the shutout.

Gavin Burbach and Brandon Warmington also scored for the Thunderbirds in the win.

Sudbury goaltender Alexander Laino stopped 69 shots in the loss.

The Thunderbirds return to action on Saturday and Sunday nights when they host Abitibi and Sudbury respectively. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday.
