Gamdeday Preview: Greyhounds host Guelph

Friday, March 01, 2013   by: Brad Coccimiglio

With a spot clinched in the Ontario Hockey League playoffs, the Soo Greyhounds now have an opportunity to move up in the standings.

The Greyhounds continue a three-game homestand on Friday night with the Guelph Storm in town and a Greyhounds victory would move them into fifth in the Western Conference, one-point ahead of the Storm.

The Storm are expected to have Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Matt Finn back in the lineup this weekend,. Finn has missed time due to mononucleosis.

Meanwhile, on the Greyhounds side, the team will be without Nick Cousins due to suspension. Greyhounds coach Sheldon Keefe will continue to tinker with his lineup as the team fills the hole left by Cousins. On wednesday night against Sudbury, the Greyhounds used defenceman Ryan Sproul, on the top line. Whether Keefe will return to the idea against the Storm isn't certain.

The standings in the Western Conference remain tight as eight points separate five teams in the standings. The Eastern Conference meanwhile, is slightly more spread out.
