OHL Roundup: Regular season winding down

Thursday was a quiet night in the Ontario Hockey League with just four games on the schedule.
In St. Catharines, Cody Payne had a goal and two assists as the Plymouth Whalers increased their lead atop the OHL’s West Division with a 7-1 win over the Niagara IceDogs. Garrett Meurs added a pair of goals for the Whalers. Zach Lorentz, Vincent Trocheck and Connor Carrick had a goal and an assist for the Whalers. Nick Malysa also scored in the win. Mitchell Heard assisted on a pair of goals for the Whalers. Brett Ritchie had the lone goal for the IceDogs.
In Peterborough, Jonatan Tanus had the shootout winner as the Peterborough Petes beat the Ottawa 67’s 4-3. Tanus, Nick Czinder and Nick Ritchie scored for the Petes in the win. Sean Monahan, John Urdanic and Taylor Fielding scored for Ottawa. Goaltender Clint Windsor stopped 43 shots in the loss.
In Windsor, Ryan Rupert had a pair of goals to lead the London Knights to a 5-2 win over the Windsor Spitfires. Bo Horvat added a goal and an assist while Max Domi and Alex Broadhurst also scored. Ben Johnson and Kerby Rychel scored for Windsor in the loss.
In Barrie, Andreas Athanasiou had a goal and an assist to lead the Barrie Colts to a 4-2 win over the Owen Sound Attack. Devon Rymarchuk, Anthony Camara and Ryan O’Connor also scored in the win. Zach Nastasiuk scored both goals for Owen Sound.
