Gameday Preview: Greyhounds in London to face Knights

A three-game road trip continues for the Soo Greyhounds on Friday night as they face the London Knights at Budweiser Gardens in London.
The Greyhounds enter the game coming off a 6-3 win in Sarnia on Thursday night while the Knights have been off since beating the Erie Otters 8-1 on Monday afternoon.
Friday marks the third meeting between the two teams this season. The Knights picked up a 5-3 win in London on Nov. 11 while the Greyhounds beat the Knights 4-2 in Sault Ste. Marie on Jan. 13. The teams will meet once more after Friday night. That meeting is set for Mar. 17, the final day of the OHL regular season, in Sault Ste. Marie.
The Knights will be without high-scoring forward Seth Griffith who is out of the lineup due to injury.
In goal, the Greyhounds starter in goal is up in the air. Justin Nichols got the start in Sarnia on Thursday night but left the game after one period due to what the team called “precautionary” measures. Matt Murray came in for the final 40 minutes.
For London, Anthony Stolarz is expected to get the start over Sault native Jake Patterson.
Friday night will be one of the Greyhounds two games in hand on Sarnia. Thanks to Thursday’s win, the Greyhounds moved a point ahead of the Sting in the Western Conference standings. The team also pulled to within a point of the fifth-seeded Guelph Storm. The Storm hold a game in hand on the Greyhounds and are also in action on Friday night as they travel to St. Catharines to take on the Niagara IceDogs.
In total, Friday night will see eight games on the OHL schedule, including:
- Plymouth vs. Windsor (7:05 p.m.)
- Sarnia vs. Erie (7:05 p.m.)
- Guelph vs. Niagara (7:30 p.m.)
- Kitchener vs. Saginaw (7:30 p.m.)
- London vs. Sault Ste. Marie (7:30 p.m.)
- Mississauga vs. Brampton (7:30 p.m.)
- Oshawa vs. Ottawa (7:35 p.m.)
- Sudbury vs. Barrie (7:35 p.m.)
