OHL Roundup: Petes attempt to stay in playoff race

Thursday night marked a quiet night in the Ontario Hockey League as just one game was on the schedule.

In Peterborough, the Peterborough Petes scored three unanswered goals en route to a 3-1 win over the Brampton Battalion. Andrew D’Agostini stopped 46 shots for the Petes in the win. Nick Czinder and Jonatan Tanus had a goal and an assist each in the win. Stephen Pierog also scored for the Petes. Patrik Machac scored the lone goal for the Battalion. Matej Machovsky stopped 33 shots in the loss.

The win pulls the Petes to within two points of the Kingston Frontenacs for the final playoff spot in the OHL’s Eastern Conference. The Frontenacs have two games in hand on the Petes.

A Brampton win would have pulled the Battalion into a tie with the Sudbury Wolves for fourth in the Eastern Conference.

Friday will see eight games on the OHL schedule, many that could affect the standings.
