Thunderbirds stymied by hot goaltender in Sudbury

After a pair of wins over the weekend on home ice, the Soo Thunderbirds dropped a 3-1 decision to the Sudbury Nickel Barons in Sudbury in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action.

After a pair of wins over the weekend on home ice, the Soo Thunderbirds dropped a 3-1 decision to the Sudbury Nickel Barons in Sudbury in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action.

Nickel Barons goaltender Alexander Laino stole the show, stopping 47 shots in the win. Darcy Haines, Giovanni Foschia and Sebastien Leroux scored for Sudbury in the win.

Dallas McLaughlin scored the lone goal for the Thunderbirds in the loss. Goaltender Joel Horodziejczyk stopped 21 shots in the loss.

Next up for the Thunderbirds is a road game in Blind River against the Beavers on Saturday night.
