High school hockey roundup

High school hockey returned to action this week following the Christmas break with three games on the schedule.
The week opened as St. Mary’s blanked White Pines 5-0. Liam Rising scored three times to pace the Knights offensive attack. Thomas Pratt and James Foster had a pair of assists for St. Mary’s. Tanner Lesage and Cody Poirier also scored in the win. Andrew Kinach picked up the shutout.
On Wednesday night, St. Basil scored five unanswered goals in a 5-1 win over Superior Heights. Taylor Lamorie and Andrew Paluzzi had a goal and an assist for St. Basil in the win. Connor Antonello, Jonathan Colombi and Paolo Bruni also scored for St. Basil. Dan Biocchi and Patrick LePore had two assists each in the win. Colton Manchulenko scored for Superior Heights in the loss.
St. Mary’s wrapped up the week with their second victory of the week, a 2-1 shootout win over CASS. Foster had the shootout winner for St. Mary’s while also scoring the lone Knights goal in regulation time. Dakota Raven scored for CASS in the loss.
With the two wins, St. Mary’s takes over sole possession of top spot in the standings. The full standings are:

Aaron Savage of Korah leads the high school loop in points with 24 in nine games. Liam Rising (St. Mary’s) leads the league in goals with 14. The league assists leader is James Foster with 15.
