Three weeks after signing with the soo Greyhounds, David Miller is expected to make his Ontario Hockey League debut with the team on Saturday evening.

Miller has been called up by the Greyhounds to fill an open roster spot left in the absence of rookie forward Jared McCann. McCann will be competing with Team Ontario at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Quebec, which gets underway with exhibition games on Friday.

Miller joins the Greyhounds after starting the season with the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Georgetown Raiders where he has posted 15 goals and 37 points in 35 games, good for fifth in team scoring. Miller has posted four three-point games this season with the Raiders.

Speaking of McCann, the rookie forward was named an alternate captain for Team Ontario along with Kingston Frontenacs defenceman Roland McKeown. McCann has 20 points in 35 games this season with the Greyhounds.

Barrie Colts defenceman Aaron Ekblad was named captain.

Team Ontario will see exhibition action on Friday as they face Sweden in Plessisville, Quebec before traveling to Victoriaville for their first round robin game on Saturday afternoon. Round robin action continues until Jan. 2. The bronze- and gold-medal games are scheduled for Jan. 4.
