The Soo North Stars continued their winning ways on Saturday night, picking up a 4-2 road win over the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves.
With the win, the North Stars continue to be the only team in the Great North Midget League to have still not lost a game in regulation time. Their only blemish was a shootout loss to the Kapuskasing Flyers earlier this month. The North Stars currently sit first in the GNML with a 10-0-0-1 record, good for 21 points and a one-point lead over Sudbury, who has played one more game.
Ryan Vendramin added to his league leading points total in Saturday’s win with a goal and an assist in the win, giving the veteran forward 15 goals and 34 points in 11 games. Devin Shell also had a goal and an assist in the win and sits second in league scoring with nine goals and 28 points. Jaren Rowe and Cody Caron also scored for the North Stars.
Brian Kment picked up the win in goal.
Steven Green scored both goals for Sudbury, who saw their record drop to 10-2-0-0 with the loss.
The North Stars return to action on Tuesday night when they travel to Chelmsford to take on the Nickel City Sons. The North Stars then return home to take on the New Liskeard Cubs on Oct. 27 and 28.
