Eagles sweep Johnstown

The Soo Eagles picked up a pair of wins on home ice against the Johnstown Tomahawks in North American Hockey League action over the weekend.
The Eagles opened the weekend with a 5-4 shootout win on Friday before beating the Tomahawks 4-1 on Saturday.
On Friday night Robin Hoglund scored the lone shootout goal to give the Eagles the win. Hoglund also scored a pair of goals in regulation time while Michael Covach and Jared VanWarmer had a goal and an assist each. Tyler Marble stopped 57 shots for the Eagles.
Ian Spencer and Brandon Reinholz had a goal and an assist for the Tomahawks while Brandon Brossoit and Codey Hansen also scored.
VanWormer had three assists in Saturday’s win for the Eagles while Eric Rivard added a goal and two assists. Covach and Michael Toman also scored. Zach Nagelvoort stopped 19 shots in the win.
Jordan Watt scored the lone goal for the Tomahawks in Saturday’s loss while former Eagles netminder Chris Truehl stopped 44 shots.
Next up for the Eagles is a road trip that takes them to Johnstown to take on the Tomahawks on Oct. 19 and 20.
