WINDSOR, ONT. – The Soo Greyhounds opened their three-game road trip in tough fashion on Thursday night, dropping a 7-4 decision to the Windsor Spitfires.

WINDSOR, ONT. – The Soo Greyhounds opened their three-game road trip in tough fashion on Thursday night, dropping a 7-4 decision to the Windsor Spitfires.

The Greyhounds fell behind 4-1 and couldn’t fully recover, despite cutting the lead to 4-3 in the third period.

Darnell Nurse paced the Greyhounds offensively with a goal and two assists in the loss while Jared McCann, Brandon Alderson and Sergey Tolchinsky also scored for the Greyhounds. Goaltender Matt Murray stopped 32 shots in the loss.

Michael Clarke had two goals and two assists for the Spitfires in the win while Derek Schoenmakers added two goals and an assist. Kerby Rychel and Brady Vail added a goal and an assist each while Josh Ho-Sang also scored for Windsor.

Jaroslav Pavelka stopped 31 shots for Windsor in the win.

The Greyhounds have an off-day on Friday before taking on the Plymouth Whalers in Plymouth on Saturday night. The Greyhounds wrap up their trip with an afternoon game in Sarnia on Sunday.
