Sproul added to injured Greyhounds blueliners list

Already without team captain Colin Miller for at least another three weeks, the Soo Greyhounds received more bad news on the injury front after Saturday’s loss to the Sarnia Sting.

Already without team captain Colin Miller for at least another three weeks, the Soo Greyhounds received more bad news on the injury front after Saturday’s loss to the Sarnia Sting.

The Greyhounds announced on Sunday that defenceman Ryan Sproul will be lost for eight to 12 weeks due to a fracture in his left arm. The Detroit Red Wings prospect suffered the injury on the opening shift of Saturday’s game against Sarnia.

The injury will keep Sproul out of the Greyhounds lineup into December at the earliest.

Sproul is currently second in team scoring behind forward Nick Cousins with a goal and nine points in seven games.

Miller is expected to be out for another three weeks due to an inflamed and infected bursa sac on his left Achilles tendon. The injury kept Miller out of all three games in the Greyhounds recent three-game homestand that wrapped up Saturday night.

On Saturday night, the Greyhounds lost the services of forward David Broll for a short time after blocking a shot while killing a penalty. Broll was helped from the ice but did return to action in the game.
