Lamantea named to NOHA Under-16 staff

The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) is pleased to announce the 2012/2013 Team NOHA Under-16 Staff.
Director of Operations – Albert Corradini (Sudbury)
Coach – Craig Duncanson (Sudbury)
Coach – Marc Lafleur (Kirkland Lake)
Coach – Sal Lamantea (Sault Ste. Marie)
Coach – John Zubyck (New Liskeard)
Trainer – Mario Laino (Hanmer)
Trainer – Jim Whalen (Sudbury)
Team NOHA will be competing in a minimum of three events during the 2012/2013 season to showcase the top OHL Draft-Eligible players in Northeastern Ontario. Team NOHA will participate in the OMHA Minor Midget Showcase in Barrie from Nov. 30 – Dec. 2, 2012, the OHL Cup in March 2013 as well as the OHL Gold Cup in May 2013.
Team NOHA will be comprised of players who participated in the NOHA Player Development Weekend that was held in North Bay, Ontario in August, 2012. Team Staff will be further evaluating players during the 2012/2013 season before the team is selected in early November.
Team Staff Biographies
Albert Corradini – Albert Corradini has been named Director of Operations for Team NOHA. Albert is the manager of the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves of the Great North Midget League (GNML), a position he has held since the 2007/2008 season. During Albert’s five years at the helm of Sudbury’s Midget AAA Team, the club has appeared in the Telus Cup (Canada’s Midget AAA Championship) twice, taking home the title in 2008.
Craig Duncanson – Craig Duncanson is presently an assistant coach with the Nickel City Sons Minor Midget AA Team, and was also recently named head coach of Laurentian University’s Men’s Hockey Team that will begin play in the 2013/2014 season. Craig recently attended the NOHA Development 2 Coaching Clinic that was held in North Bay in August.
Marc Lafleur – A native of Hearst, Marc Lafleur has also joined Team NOHA as a coach for the club. Earlier this summer, Lafleur, an Advanced Level Coach, was named head coach of the Kirkland Lake Blue Devils of the NOJHL, after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the QMJHL. Prior to joining the Huskies, Lafleur was head coach of the Hearst Elans for five seasons and saw several of his players drafted into the OHL.
Sal Lamantea – The NOHA is very pleased that Sal Lamantea has agreed to be a part of the Team NOHA Coaching Staff. Sal brings with him a wealth of experience coaching young elite athletes. Since 1998, Sal has been responsible for coaching Minor and Major Bantam AAA players in Sault Ste. Marie, and is currently the head coach of the Soo Thunder Minor Midget AA Team. Sal also attended the NOHA Development 2 Clinic earlier this season.
John Zubyck – John joins the Team NOHA staff after coaching the New Liskeard Cubs of the Great North Midget League (GNML) for the previous three seasons. During his time with the Cubs, Zubyck has seen several players go through his program onto the OHL or junior hockey, including Brody Silk, Taylor Dupuis and Jake Ryan. John was another attendee at the NOHA’s Development 2 Coaching Clinic in North Bay.
Mario Laino – Mario is joining the Team NOHA staff for the second time, having previously been a trainer in 2010 at the Under-16 Prospects Event in Kitchener. Mario is one of only nine Level III Trainers in the NOHA, and applies his craft with the Sudbury Nickel Barons of the NOJHL. In addition, Mario is a Trainers Program Instructor for the NOHA in the Sudbury region and has been involved with the NOHA Program of Excellence for the last five seasons.
Jim Whalen – Like Mario, Jim is a Level III Trainer within the NOHA and is currently the trainer for the Sudbury Wolves Peewee AAA Team. Prior to this, Jim was trainer with the Sudbury Jr. A team alongside Mario. Jim has been involved in the NOHA Program of Excellence over the last several years and is a welcome addition to the Team NOHA Staff.
