North Stars improve to 8-0 after weekend wins

The Soo North Stars offense continued to roll over the weekend on their first weekend road trip of the Great North Midget League season.

The North Stars picked up three more wins on the trip, outscoring New Liskeard, Kirkland Lake and Timmins 30-7 in the process.

The North Stars opened the trip with a 16-2 win over New Liskeard thanks to a seven-point performance from Ryan Vendramin. The veteran forward finished the night with three goals and four assists in the win. Devin Shell had a five-point night with three goals and two assists while Matt Pinder added four goals and Jaren Bellini had two goals and two assists. Jaron Rowe (one goal, three assists) and Anthony Stefano (four assists) also had four-point nights for the North Stars. Cody Caron, Cameron White and Brandon Grandinetti also scored in the win.

Zach Murphy and Felix Lantaigne scored for New Liskeard in the loss.

On Saturday night, the North Stars beat Kirkland Lake 7-2. Vendramin continued his offensive production with three goals and an assist in the win while Shell added a goal and two assists. JAren Bellini had a goal and an assist while White and Grandinetti had two assists each. Pinder and Nathan Hebert also scored in the win.

Jordan Wilson and Logan Lazoryshak scored for Kirkland Lake while Marshall Nikitin had two assists in the loss.

The North Stars wrapped up the weekend with a 7-3 win over Timmins. Vendramin led the way with a goal and three assists while defenceman Jack MacLeod assisted on three goals. Grandinetti, Rowe, Stefano, Shell, Mitchell and Bellini also scored in the win.

Brandon Renaud, Colin Beach and Ryan Seguin scored for Timmins. Austin Boulard had two assists in the loss.

With the wins, the North Stars improve to 8-0 on the season and have outscored their opponents 71-17 in the process.

The North Stars return to action this weekend when they host Kapuskasing in a pair of weekend games. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
