Korah beats White Pines in high school football

The Korah Colts picked up their first win of the Sault Ste. Marie High School Football League season on Saturday afternoon at Rocky DiPietro Field.
Korah beat White Pines 31-14 in the final game of week two.
Korah opened up a 13-0 through the opening quarter thanks to a two-yard touchdown run by Peter Greve and a 14-yard touchdown catch by Matt DiBerdino in the final moments of the quarter. After the Colts missed the convert on Greve’s touchdown run, Jesse Stewart got the convert on DiBerdino’s major.
Korah increased the lead to 16-0 by the half thanks to a 25-yard field goal by Stewart early in the frame.
In the second half, Greve scampered in from eight yards out to make the scored 23-0 but White Pines would cut into the lead late in the third quarter when Jordan Pine caught an eight-yard touchdown pass from David Shuttleworth and cut into the lead further with a two-point conversion to make the score 23-8.
The two teams traded touchdowns in the fourth quarter, with Korah also picking up a rouge in the process to wrap up the scoring. DiBerdino got his second major of the day for Korah on a four-yard pass from Greve while Pine score for White Pines on a ten-yard run that began after a lateral from Justin Dubrieul to make the final 31-14.
On the schedule for next week in senior football, St. Basil (2-0) takes on Korah (1-1) on Sept. 26; Superior Heights (1-1) takes on White Pines (0-2) on Sept. 28; and Korah will take on St. Mary’s (1-1) on Sept. 29. All senior games are at Rocky DiPietro field.
In junior action on Saturday, Korah defeated White Pines 28-6.
Also on Saturday, St. Mary’s faced Sault High in Sault, Mich., dropping a 28-15 decision to the Blue Devils.
