High school basketball action opens

A pair of games kicked off Senior Girls High School Basketball League action on Thursday night.
At Superior Heights, St. Mary’s beat Superior Heights 46-27 while St. Basil scored a 52-45 win over White Pines at St. Basil.
For St. Mary’s Lydia Murray had 12 points while sister Hannah had 10 to lead the Knights to the win. Brooke Bellerose added nine points for St. Mary’s. Mackenzie Digasparro had six points for Superior Heights in the loss.
In the other senior game, Courtney White scored 14 points to pace the St. Basil attack. Alyssa Dovigi added 13 points for the Saints. Keirsten Olar led all scorers in the game with 18 points for White Pines while Adriane Bruni added 12 in the loss.
In junior action, St. Mary’s scored a narrow 29-27 victory over Superior Heights thanks to a 12-point performance from Hannah Soares. Leah Policicchio had eight points for Superior Heights.
The other junior game saw St. Basil defeat White Pines 31-14. Angela Caicco had 13 points for St. Basil while Riley Crockford had eight points for White Pines.
