St. Mary's blanks White Pines in high school football

In senior football action on Wednesday night, the St. Mary’s Knights evened their record at 1-1 with a 51-0 win over the White Pines Wolverines.
Dylan Hebert scored five touchdowns for St. Mary’s in the victory. Hebert opened the scoring midway through the opening quarter when he ran the ball in from six yards out and made the score 14-0 with another six-yard run early in the second quarter. Hebert also had a 48-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter.
Hebert’s two other majors came off a 13-yard pass from Justin Elwgren late in the first half and a 40-yard punt return in the fourth quarter.
Elwgren also hit Malcolm Carlson-Strain for a two-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter while Jason Thibodeau ran the ball in for a four-yard touchdown run, also in the third quarter.
Brandon Vernelli hit six of seven converts in the win while also kicking a fourth-quarter field goal for the Knights.
In the junior game on Wednesday, White Pines upended St. Mary’s 23-12.
Senior football action continues on Friday night as St. Basil (1-0) takes on Superior Heights (1-0) at 7 p.m. at Rocky DiPietro Field. Action on Saturday will see White Pines (0-1) take on Korah (0-1).
