Greyhounds use power play to beat Wolves

Friday, September 14, 2012   by: Brad Coccimiglio

SUDBURY, ONT. – A pair of power play goals 33 seconds apart helped the Soo Greyhounds to a 4-2 road win over the Sudbury Wolves in Ontario Hockey League exhibition action on Friday.

Nick Cousins and Mitchell Dempsey scored power play goals in the third period on both ends of a five-on-three man advantage to give the Greyhounds the win.

Dempsey had a pair of goals in the win for the Greyhounds, which included a marker that tied the game at two with under 10 second remaining in the second period. Dempsey also had another goal disallowed in the game.

Dylan Staples had the other goal for the Greyhounds, while goaltender Justin Nichols picked up the win in goal.

Jake Ryan and Brody Silk scored for Sudbury in the loss.

A power outage at Sudbury arena forced officials to push back the game’s start time. Originally scheduled as a 7:35 p.m. start time, the game time was moved back to 8:05 p.m.

The Greyhounds wrap up their exhibition schedule on Saturday night when they host the Saginaw Spirit in a 7:07 p.m. start at the Essar Centre.

This team on paper is top 10 in OHL...
I predict they will be fighting for final 2 playoff spots.
