Mosquito Sox go 1-2 in OBA’s

The Lock City Dairies Mosquito Black Sox wrapped up the 2012 season at the Ontario Baseball Association Provincial Championships over the weekend and returned with a 1-2 record.

The locals opened the weekend with a 14-4 loss to Pickering. The Black Sox managed six hits in the loss. Nate Medaglia started for the Black Sox giving up three hits and an earned run in the loss. Medaglia, Jonathan Mackin, Josh Mannarino, Gavin Garson, Aaron Seccariccia and Ethan Johnson had the locals hits in the loss.

The Black Sox beat Walker Home Sites of Windsor in their second game by a 17-13 scored. The locals pounded out 16 hits in the win, including a pair of singles and a double by Caden King. Kurtis Rogers homered and tripled in the win while Medaglia, Mackin, Nathan Manary and Carter Magee-Marenger also had two hits each in the win.

The Black Sox wrapped up the tournament with an 8-4 loss to Oakville. Mackin had a pair of hits for the Black Sox in the loss. Magee-Marenger went five innings in the loss and pitched well after a tough first inning.

The Mosquito Black Sox  finished the season with a 27-16-1 record.

The coaches are proud of their efforts and wish them well in the off-season as they move on to other sports. We have 11 potential returnees into the Black Sox Pee Wee system next year and we hope to build on the successes from this year.
