Nurse strikes gold at U18 tournament

Team Canada, and Soo Greyhounds defenceman Darnell Nurse, have won the gold medal at the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament that completed earlier today in Slovakia and the Czech Republic
Nathan MacKinnon scored three times to pace the Canadian team to a- win over Finland in the championship. Curtis Lazar had the other Canadian goal while Jonathan Drouin had a pair of assists.
MacKinnon paced the Canadian offensive attack in the tournament with five goals and six assists in five games.
Goaltender Zachary Fucale stopped 23 shots for the shutout in the gold medal win.
Team Canada finished the round robin with a 3-0 record after wins over Switzerland (4-1), Sweden (7-5) and Slovakia (3-2). In the semi-final, Canada beat the Czech Republic 5-2.
Also on Saturday, Sweden beat the Czech Republic 2-1 to win bronze.
