The Cambrian Nissan Midget Black Sox are on a roll of sorts after sweeping a double header against the Sudbury Midget Rep Team on Saturday afternoon.
The double header was a return match after the Black Sox split a double header last weekend in Sudbury against the Sudbury Midget Rep Team and saw the locals pick up wins of 10-5 and 9-1 on Saturday afternoon.
In the opener, Sudbury opened up a 2-0 lead in the first inning and the score stayed that way until the Black Sox scored four times in the fourth inning and six more times in the sixth inning to pick up the win. Sudbury scored three times in the seventh inning to cut into the lead but they couldn’t inch any closer.
Trevor Sayers led the way for the Black Sox with four hits in the game one victory. Jordan Pine chipped in with three hits, including a pair of singles and a double. Jeb Pallot and Cody Yardanoff also had two singles each in the win.
Coty Anderson got the win on the mound for the Black Sox in game one, striking out five Sudbury hitters in four innings of work. Pallot came in and struck out five in the final three innings.
In game two, the Black Sox jumped out to an early lead and never looked back after building up a 3-0 lead in the first inning and led 4-0 through two. After Sudbury scored in the fifth inning, the Black Sox tacked on five more runs over the final three innings to cap off the win.
Pallot had a single and double offensively in the game two victory while Anderson and Dana Lesage had two singles each. Pine walked twice in the win.
Tyson Taoscinski had three singles for Sudbury in the game two loss.
The Black Sox now prepare for the provincial championships, scheduled to open on Aug. 24 in Stratford, Ont.
