Midget Black Sox 0-2 at Lynn Auto Parts Invitational

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI. – Call it a tough start to the weekend for the Cambrian Nissan Midget Black Sox.
The Black Sox, competing this weekend in the 2012 Lynn Auto Parts Invitational, enter day two with an 0-2 record after opening day losses to Marquette and Escanaba.
The locals opened the tournament with a 10-5 loss against Marquette. The Black Sox took a 401 lead over the Blues through three innings before Marquette tied the game with three runs in the fourth inning.
Marquette proceeded to score six runs in the fifth inning. Marquette loaded the bases with one out before a Ryan Walther hit a two-run single to break the tie.
Collin McAuley had a double and a pair of walks in the loss for the Black Sox while Cody Yardanoff walked three times in the loss.
The Black Sox got off to a slow start against Escanaba and couldn’t recover in a 16-0 loss.
Escanaba scored five runs in the opening inning and then proceeded to tack on nine more in the fourth innings in the win.
Justyn Doucette had a pair of doubles, a single and scored a pair of runs in the win for Escanaba. David Falish, Nick Vandermissen and Matt Jensen added a pair of singles each in the win.
Eric Thornton had a single and a walk in the loss for the Black Sox while Dana Lesage and Brad Manson also singles for the Black Sox.
The Black Sox return to action in the tournament on Saturday afternoon when they face Sanford at 1 p.m. and Ishpeming at 6 p.m.
