Bantam Sox to play in consolation game

The Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox will play in the consolation game of the 7th Annual Soo Black Sox Invitational Tournament on Sunday.
The Black Sox will play in the consolation game despite posting a 2-1 record in the round robin, which wrapped up on Saturday night. The locals finished third in their division based on run differential. The Cincinnati Tribe finished first in the division with a 3-0 record while the Taylor Rays finished second with a 2-1 record.
The Black Sox wrapped up the round robin on Saturday afternoon with a 7-6 extra innings victory over the Lansing Moose. Brandon Dewar scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning to give the Black Sox the win. Dewar also had a pair of hits in the win while Zach Duchesne had three hits. Lansing scored all six of their runs in the first three innings of the contest.
In Saturday’s other round robin games: Taylor beat Hartland 12-11; Lansing beat Taylor 11-0; Cincinnati held on to beat Thunder Bay 11-12; Cincinnati beat Hartland 9-4; and Taylor beat Thunder Bay 18-3.
In their first game of the tournament on Friday, the Black Sox opened the tournament with an 8-1 win over the Hartland Gold. Beau Nolan had a pair of hits in the win with a single and a double while Joel Soltys chipped in with a pair of singles. Evan Lavallee had a single and a walk in the win.
In their second game of the tournament, the Black Sox suffered a 7-4 loss to the Thunder Bay Lakers. The Black Sox gave up five runs in the opening inning and couldn’t battle back.
Friday’s other game saw Cincinnati beat Lansing 2-1.

- 10:00 a.m. – Semi-Final #1: Taylor vs. Lansing (Field E)
- 12:30 p.m. – Semi-Final #2: Thunder Bay vs. Cincinnati (Field E)
- 3 p.m. – Championship
