U15 Civics return with another tournament win

SAULT CIVICS U15 BOYS

The U15 Boys Sault Civics Fire soccer team returned home this past weekend with their second gold medal in less than a month. This time the Fire, defeated the hometown Petoskey Lakers 3-2 during the 30th Annual Petoskey Invitational Tournament.
The Sault led 2-0 going into the second half until the Lakers tied the game forcing two 5 minute overtime periods and then penalty shots. The Sault boys scored all five of their penalty kicks while Petoskey missed one. The first two goals of the game were scored by Earl Gibbs and Rocky Krancevich. The penalty shooters were Rocky Krancevich, Marcus Sacchetta, Bradley Brideaux, Earl Gibbs and Quinten Grimm. Michael Chilelli provided strong goaltending the entire match.
During the first game of the tournament the Sault defeated the Petoskey Lakers 3-0. Goal scorers were Can Cui, Quinten Grimm and Earl Gibbs. Shutout by Michael Chilelli.
The second game ended in a 0-0 tie against Holly Heat. Shutout goaltending this time was provided by Avery Ciotti.
The third game, which was a semi-final game in the six team U15 boys division, ended with a 3-0 win over FC Marquette Blurr. Goals were scored by Earl Gibbs, Can Cui and Dylan Robertson. Michael Chilelli got the shutout.
The Sault Civics Fire first tournament championship this year was in Traverse City during the month of May in which they defeated Traverse City to win the Cherry Capital Cup Tournament.
The entire team deserves credit as they have all contributed to a successful start to the year. Other team players include Cody Brideaux, Jacob Palmerio, Anthony Policicchio, Jake Jackson, Aaron Lidstone, Chris Sabourin, Trent Sepkowski, Daniel Zagordo and Billy Szlag.
