Elks 341 Black Sox offense explodes in sweep of Newberry

An offensive explosion helped the Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox to a road sweep of a double header against Newberry on Sunday.

The Black Sox outscored their opponent 24-4 to cruise to the two-game sweep.

Zach Duchesne had three singles and three runs batted in as the Black Sox took the opener 14-2. Brandon Dewar had a single and a double and knocked in two runs in the win while Beau Nolan and Evan Lavallee had a pair of singles each and also knocked in two runs.

Pitcher Colton Read was masterful on the mound as well in the win, giving up one hit and a pair of walks while striking out four for the Black Sox.

In the second game, pitcher Jamis McMaster struck out nine Newberry batters and surrendered just four hits and a walk as the Black Sox completed the sweep with a 10-2 victory.

Duchesne added two more singles and knocked in two more runs in the win.
