Mosquito and Pee Wee Black Sox prepare for tournament action while midgets split in Marquette

The Lock City Dairy Mosquito Black Sox return four players from a season ago as they prepare to head to Tecumseh for tournament action this weekend.

The Mosquito Sox roster includes: Aaron Seccariccia, Caden King, Jonathan Mackin, Kurtis Rogers, Carter Magee-Marenger, Nathan Manary, Ethan Johnson, Camden Findlay, Gavin Garson, Cam Baber, Josh Mannarino, Nate Medaglia and Brock Santa Maria.

The Pee Wee Black Sox open their tournament schedule this weekend in Escanaba, Mi.

The 2012 Pee Wee team features nine returning members on the 12-man roster. Among the returnees are Cole Wright, Noah Pearce, Todd Webb, Austin Hurley, Tyler Sayers, Geryd Lesage, Braedon Whalen, Braydon Caruso and Charlie Dicorpo. The new members of the Pee Wee Black Sox include Dylan Sewel, Noah Thomson and Marcus Moore.

The Cambrian Nissan Midget Black Sox continued play over the weekend with a pair of games in Marquette, Mi., coming away with a split.

The Midgets opened play with a 2-1 victory in extra innings in game one. Cody Yardanoff struck out six hitters in seven innings of work in a game that saw the Black Sox trailing 1-0 through six innings before sending the game into extras with a single run in the top of the seventh inning. Eric Thornton pitched the eighth inning for the Black Sox, who got a two-hit performance from Jeb Pallot. Collin McAuley knocked in the game-winning run in the eighth inning.

The loss was the first in roughly two years for Marquette at home.

Marquette rebounded in the second game, beating the Black Sox 10-0 thanks to 11 hits and four walks in the game. Pallot and Thornton had hits for the Black Sox in the loss.
