OFSAA runs end for two local schools

After advancing to the quarter-finals with a win over the host team from Kingsville earlier in the day, the Colts dropped a 64-33 decision to Kings Christian of Oakville Friday evening.

Tori Ivey led the Colts with 15 points.

Laeticia Amihere of Kings Christian led all scorers in the game with 18 points while Christina Morra added 17 for the Cavaliers who entered the tournament as the second seed.

Kings Christian will now face Wallaceburg in one of two semi-final games on Saturday morning with the other semi-final featuring Theriault (Timmins) and Stephen Leacock of Agincourt.

Theriault is the top seed in the tournament.

The championship game is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday while the Bronze Medal game begins at 5 p.m.

Earlier in the day, the Colts beat Kingsville 23-21.

The Colts trailed throughout the opening three quarters before outscoring the home team 9-4 in the final quarter.

Liana Hryniewicz and Carina Hargis had six points each for Korah against Kingsville.

In the AAA OFSAA tournament in Windsor, the St. Mary’s Knights tournament came to an end on Friday after a 63-23 loss to No. 2-seeded St. John’s College.

Serena Pulente led the Knights with seven points while Angela Caicco added five. Alicia Gibbs scored four points for St. Mary’s.

The AAA tournament semi-finals are set for 11 a.m. Saturday with the championship game scheduled for 7 p.m.
