High school hockey season well underway

As the girls high school basketball season winds down this weekend with NOSSA playdowns, the high school hockey season is underway. The schedule continued on Wednesday as Central Algoma (CASS) skated to a 3-2 win over Korah.

As the girls high school basketball season winds down this weekend with NOSSA playdowns, the high school hockey season is underway.

The schedule continued on Wednesday as Central Algoma (CASS) skated to a 3-2 win over Korah.

Jack McLeod paced CASS offensively with a goal and two assists while Nolan Ford assisted on a pair of goals.

Avri Pollari and Henry Sencal also scored for CASS.

Stano Sdao and Michael Byron scored for Korah.

With the schedule in full swing, St. Mary’s remains the lone unbeaten team in the four-team loop at 3-0.

With Wednesday’s win, CASS sits at 1-1 while Korah drops to 1-2.

Superior Heights is 0-3.

The schedule continues on Thursday as Superior Heights and Korah play at the Essar Centre.

The game, a 12:50 p.m. start, is the second annual Charity Classic Game. Students from the two schools were able to gain admission to the game by donation. Ahead of the game, it’s estimated that over 2,000 cans of food have already been donated.

In two seasons, the event has seen over 5,000 cans donated to help the Soup Kitchen ahead of the Christmas season.
