As the latest event in the Grand Slam of Curling continues, wins keep coming for Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs.

The Jacobs rink, which includes third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden and lead Ryan Harnden, improved to 3-0 on Thursday at the National in Oshawa, ON.

A 3-0 lead helped Jacobs to a 5-3 win over Brendan Bottcher of Edmonton, AB in day three of the round robin.

After scoring a single in the opening end, the Jacobs rink would pick up single steals in the second and fourth ends to open up the lead. After Bottcher scored a pair in the fifth end, Jacobs would add singles in the sixth and eighth ends.

Jacobs wraps up the round robin on Friday against Pat Simmons in draw 12 at 3:30 p.m.

The National is the third of seven Grand Slam of Curling events and features 15 men’s and 15 women’s teams competing.

Split into three divisions of five teams each, the top eight teams on each side advance to the playoff round.

The tournament champion earns an invitation to the Champions Cup, which is the final event of the grand slam season. The tournament features the champions from each of the major curling events throughout the season.
