It's not illegal to cross the street. You can cross mid-block as long as you yield to traffic. That's not J-walking.

If you hit a pedestrian crossing the street to St. Basils, you shouldn't be driving.

But I heard the driver of the car played hockey... So who knows what really happened! Who really is the 'victim' here? Don't be so hard on this guy..... Anybody can just run in front of a car....

Anyway, Yes, there should be a cross-walk there, obviously!! But, then again, how many vehicles obey the cross-walk at the grocery store - you know the diagonal yellow lines in front of the store, the ones you're supposed to yield for pedestrians walking with their carts?
