jean-marie... expecting pedestrians coming from Grand or Reid to walk along the shoulder of the road (there is no sidewalk on the north side) and cross at the McNabb crossing is unrealistic.

A proper crossing at the school will not cause problems -- except, perhaps, for drivers who believe the speed limit, traffic lights, and other controls do not apply to them.
