Also, people do not understand that an occational teacher can sit on the occational list for up to 10 years. I know teachers who are on the supply list, and they only get called to work 1 maybe 2 shifts a week. Our educators are expected to sit by the phone for the first 5-10 years waiting for a call to work. If one of them has another job; like most have too, than this becomes an issue. Also, teachers pay thousands to "upgrade" their diplomas. I have one friend who still owes over 20,000 dollars on their loan and gets on average one call a week for the last three years. Ya said teacher is doing real well. People don't understand how many people are in line for these jobs. The ontario college of teachers is saying there is at least a 7 year wait for a full time position. Just another log for the fire!
