Transportation is more than just roads. Regarding hydro power we have numerous dams in Ontario that could be retrofitted with turbines to generate electricity and be a very efficient alternative to windmills. The biggest thing thing is the generating capacity is needed in Southern Ontario. We already have lots of cheap hydro here, but why are we paying so much for electricity here when we are right next to the cheapest electricity (hydro), with low transmission cost and very little line loss. Why do we have to shoulder the costs of cheap, subsidized electricity to southern Ontario. As to windmills being an alternative to fossil fuels, look into the actual situation. Windmills are too unreliable to not have other generating capacity online. Windmills are political bling.
