FOLEYET OPP ASSIST WITH MEDICAL EMERGENCY(FOLEYET ON) – The OPP is assisting in a comprehensive response to a report of a medical emergency situation currently underway on a Via Rail passenger train in Foleyet.
The assistance is being provided in conjunction with Ministry of Health officials through the Sudbury District Health Unit in relation to a sudden death occurrence which occurred this morning on a Via Rail passenger train originating from Vancouver en route to Toronto.
The OPP, under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner, is conducting an investigation surrounding the death of the 60 year old female who died on the train.
The OPP is also assisting the Ministry of Health and Via rail officials with scene control.
One other passenger has been air lifted to the Timmins and District Hospital by air ambulance with an undisclosed medical condition. Several other passengers on the train have been reported as experiencing varying minor levels of medical discomfort.
The OPP is asking for the media’s cooperation with facilitating the emergency response to this developing situation.
