Astute citizen helps nab a drunk driver

Police were called to assist an astute citizen who called to report a possible impaired driver in the John Street area at approximately 4:36 p.m. Saturday. 
The citizen called 911 after observing a vehicle swerve all over all over John Street and run red lights southbound turning onto Cathcart Street. 
The citizen followed the driver until police could intercept him. 
Harold Wardell, age 69, of Cathcart St. has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and having over the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.
He will appear in court on 30 June 2014.
