City services and operations over Canada Day weekend

Canada Day holiday operations

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - Several municipal facilities will be closed on Monday, July 2, 2012, due to the Canada Day statutory holiday.

• Cemetery office
• Children’s centres (Jessie Irving and Maycourt: closed July 2; Best Start Program: closed July & August)
• Civic Centre
• Essar Centre office and box office
• Public library (all branches)
• Seniors’ centres (Drop-In and Steelton)
• Social services (Ontario Works, Social Housing and Community Child Care)
• Transit office
• Community centres

The John Rhodes arenas are closed on Sunday, July 1.

Open July 2 for scheduled events.

McMeeken Centre is closed for the season.

The West End Community Centre is closed on Sunday, July 1.

Open July 2 for scheduled events.

Ermatinger∙Clergue National Historic Site - open Sunday, July 1 and Monday, July 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Marine Facilities

Bellevue Marina is open July 1 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The public will have access to the pier to view fireworks.

Access to docks will be restricted to boat owners.

Roberta Bondar Marina is open July 1 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Sault Canal recreational lock is open July 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Pools

The John Rhodes Community Centre Pool is open July 1 for swim programs only. 

For scheduled times call 705-759-5419.

Open July 2 for swim programs and regular lessons.

Peter G. Manzo Pool and the V.E. Greco Pool are open July 1 from 1 to 7 p.m., weather permitting.

Roberta Bondar Park Tent Pavilion

Join us July 1 for Celebrate 100! Canada Day festivities beginning at 1 p.m. 

Fireworks at dusk!

Refuse & recycling collection

No collection Monday, July 2.

Collection will be one day late for the remainder of the week.

Refuse, recyclables, leaf and yard waste must be placed curbside by 7:30 a.m. to ensure pickup.

The landfill site will be closed Monday, July 2 and will reopen on July 3.

Transit services

There will be regular weekend service for transit and parabus on Sunday, July 1.

No service for transit and parabus on Monday, July 2.

Parabus bookings for Saturday, June 30, Sunday, July 1 and Tuesday,

July 3 must be made by noon on Friday, June 29.
