Winners announced in Northern Credit Union Kids’ Photo Contest

Rewards for winners include RESP contributions and iPods

SAULT STE. MARIE - Northern Credit Union’s 2014 Kids’ Photo Calendar Contest encouraged students in Northern’s local communities to submit pictures depicting what makes them “True North Strong”.

The contest was inspired by Northern’s “True North Strong” brand, which was launched earlier this year.

First place prizes of $1,000 RESP contributions and second place prizes of $500 RESP contributions are awarded in both elementary and secondary school categories.

All four winners also receive iPod nanos.

In addition, the two first place winners’ schools receive Canon Rebel camera prize packs to encourage the art of photography in local schools.

Northern Credit Union is pleased to announce the winners:

Secondary school

  • First Place: Karine Boucher - Grade 12, Wawa
  • Second Place: Tyler LeBel - Grade 9, Sault Ste. Marie (pictured)

Elementary school

  • First Place: Julia Mayes - Grade 7, Thunder Bay
  • Second Place: Samantha Stevenson - Grade 8, Englehart

Al Suraci, president and CEO of Northern Credit Union, says: “The Northern Kids’ Photo Calendar Contest is about celebrating young people, and inspiring them as future leaders of our communities. We congratulate all students who participated in the contest and thank them for bringing 'True North Strong' to life across Northern Ontario.”

The winning photographs will be among 24 featured in the 2014 Northern Kids’ Photo Calendar, which will be available mid-December at all Northern Credit Union locations.
