Our Winter Carnival's crown jewel, the Polar Bear Swim, closed the 50th annual Bon Soo festivities this afternoon at Bellevue Park.

A multitude of brave souls took the plunge into the icy St. Marys River as Mr. Bon Soo and a crowd of curious onlookers cheered them on.

Popular this year were super hero costumes - we spotted Batman, Spider Man, Superman, and Wonder Woman - and the knee-tuck jump.

Sadly, no one attempted a belly-flop.

This year's Polar Bear Swim award winners were:

Oldest male: Raines Guttenberg - 69

Oldest female: Elaine Gowman - 56

Swimmer who travelled the furthest: Alex Heal - Sydney, Australia
