GATINEAU, Qc - The bodies of two Canadian accountants who were killed in a Taliban suicide attack in Afghanistan last week are on their way home.

Their employer — Samson and Associates president Pierre Samson — says the remains of Martin Glazer, of Gatineau, Que., and Peter McSheffrey, of Ottawa, are to arrive at CFB Trenton on Wednesday night.

Glazer and McSheffrey were among 21 people killed last Friday when a suicide bomber and two gunmen attacked a popular restaurant in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

McSheffrey's family says he loved to travel and was doing meaningful work and Glazer's family says he felt he was making an important contribution to the war-torn country.

Samson says a wake for McSheffrey is tentatively scheduled for Friday, with the funeral on Saturday. Glazer's family has scheduled funeral services for Feb. 1.

Samson says his company has been working in Afghanistan since 2005 and the two men had been in Kabul less than a week doing an audit for the Canadian International Development Agency.

"The project they were working on is to audit some of the aid program that Canada was providing to help in anti-terrorist security," Samson said.

Glazer and McSheffrey had finished their workday on Friday, returned their computers to their hotel and gone out for dinner, he said.

"It's not everybody can go there, it's a secure area, it's got a steel door."

Samson said he has been told the suicide bomber "blew himself up in the front door, killing the guards and the security, and blowing up the door and then two gunmen came in shooting."
